20-01-10! Cheetah3D 5.2 uses WebKit-Javascript engineCheetah3D is now using the blazing fast WebKit-JavascriptCore Javascipt engine which is also used by Safari. Due to the JIT compiler the execution of custom scripts should be considerably faster now.One the way to the 64bit version of Cheetah3D also the FBX SDK has been updated to the latest version (v2010.2) and the old Quicktime code has been replaced by the new QTKit. So Cheetah3D will be ready for 64 bit very soon (the 64bit version will be a free update for all 5.x users). Next to all the under the hood changes, Cheetah3D 5.2 also adds many work flow enhancements. From a texture preview in the properties editor over a file selector in the render manager to copy and paste support of animation keys in the timeline. Cheetah3D 5.2 will require at least Mac OS X 10.5. Tiger isn't supported anymore. A Cheetah3D 5.x single user license costs 149 US$ and 69 US$ for an upgrade from an older version (1.x, 2.x, 3.x or 4.x).

The 8th annual Blender Conference will be again in Amsterdam, this time they got hold of a great new location, the former 19th century court building De Balie.
This grand cafe / theatre / cinema is right in the center of Amsterdam, on the Leidseplein, the heart of Amsterdam's music, theatre and clubbing nightlife. Because of the growing amount of visitors, they had to seek a bigger place... In De Balie they will get a cinema/theatre with 160 seats, the smaller "Salon" with 50 seats, and sufficient informal space to meet, relax and lunch in their own grand cafe. De Balie offers great multi-camera streaming services, and stores most talks on their servers for later viewing.
